Our story
Check out our story and how we got started.

A passion for writing
Janine grew up in Perth Amboy NJ and from as early as the age of 9 she was writing poetry, songs and short stories. She always knew she wanted to become an author. At an early age she also knew she did not want to go through a traditional publishing company and have them take ownership of her rights. In the 90s self publishing was not as accessible as it is now, so Janine hand wrote her very first book at the age of 15, full of poetry.

Humble beginnings
Every year Janine would write her book, perfect it, then put it down. Ultimately she was afraid of publishing it, questioning what people would think and whether she was good enough. At the age of 28, after 19 years of putting her book to the side, she got sick and tired of her own excuses and finally published her very first book, Through My Eyes. At her first book launch only 7 people showed up, but she was excited that she finally did it. With only $1.63 to her name, she made a decision to change the trajectory of her life.

Planting the seed
Janine continued to publish books and started to get media attention. Many writers reached out asking for advice or 1:1 coaching. She understood that her assignment was to help people be vulnerable and publish their books, and she shifted from a me mentality to a we mentality.

Rich dad
Janine had the opportunity to have dinner with Robert Kiyosaki, the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad. He asked everyone the self limiting belief that held them back around money. Janine replied, my parents never taught me. Robert replied, how much longer are you going to have that problem? She started to invest in coaches, mentors and trainings.

A pandemic business boom
Janine walked away from corporate America and shifted her business to online virtual group training. She promoted her online book coaching program before it was even ready, enrolled beta testers, and made over $15,000 in 3 days. During the pandemic, when many businesses were closing, the Book Publishing Academy took off.

The seed is sprouting
A growing author community was established and the Academy received even more media attention, from billboards to features on CBS, NBC, Fox, Telemundo and Univision. The Book Publishing Academy received a proclamation from the City of Phoenix naming April 16th Book Publishing Academy Day.

A growing author community
The Book Publishing Academy continued to grow. We currently have over 333 authors enrolled, over 68 books published, 15 #1 best sellers, national speakers, and we are just getting started.

A vision for the future
The first decade of Janine's journey was about growth and dialing in the business. Now her vision is to create the largest community of self published authors in the world.
